Trainee Bus Driver

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate buses according to the Island’s scheduled bus service.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to passengers.

Requirements:

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Hold a valid Full Cat B (Car) Driving Licence (Must have held for 12 months if under 21 years of age).

Training:

• Comprehensive training will be provided, covering various aspects including driving skills to test standard, theory test support, customer service, disability awareness, safeguarding, vehicle type training, routes, and diversions, as well as health and safety protocols.

Compensation:

• Training rate: £12.50 per hour.
• Upon completion of training, rates increase to:

• • Rate 1: £16.25 per hour
  • Rate 2: £19.50 per hour

Working Hours:

• Trainees are required to work a 40-hour week.
• All driving staff operate on a 4/7 rota, which may include weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays.
• Driver duties commence between 0440hrs and 2200hrs and conclude between 1600hrs and just after 2200hrs on weekdays.
• Bank Holidays require full Sunday service, and late services until around 0100hrs on Friday and Saturday nights are operated by a dedicated team of drivers.
